Notes:

Today we learned about Khalid ibn Al-Walid, the sword of Allah. His title was assigned to him by the prophet.

Khalid won every battle, even the battle of Uhud against the Prophet.

To summarize the Battle of Uhud, this is what happened. The Muslims were outnumbered. In order to avoid the Kufar splitting up and surrounding the Muslims, the Prophet came up with the idea that the Muslims should put their backs to the mountain and place seven archers on the top of the mountain in order to prevent the Kufar from trying to climb the mountain. The Prophet told the archers not to move unless he specifically sent someone to go get them. The Muslims were doing great. Every time the Kufar tried to climb the mountain the archers would kill them and at the bottom of the mountains the Muslims were fighting well. When the Kufar started to retreat, the Muslims went to go collect the spoils. At the top of the mountain, the archers were debating about whether they should go down the mountain to collect spoils too. The Prophet had told them not to go down without the signal from him. The archers decided to go down the mountain. Only seven archers remained. While the Muslims were collecting their spoils, Khalid ibn Walid and his men seized the opportunity. They went up the mountain, easily killing the remaining seven archers, and attacked the Muslims from behind.

Today we took notes on Black Magic. Surat al-Bakara 2:102 tells you the source of black magic.

·         The source of black magic was the two Angels Haroot and Maroot

  • Black Magic = for evil people (Kufar)
  • Blowing in the knot is like whistling to call the Jinn to come and chase the victim and ruin the victim’s life.
  • The knot makes the sound that attracts the Jinn
  • The stuff in the knot is for the Jinn to track down the victim
  • The Quran doesn’t say how the witch attracts the Jinn because that would be teaching black magic. Allah would never do that.

The story of Haroot and Maroot:

1.       The Angels used to look down upon the humans that have repented. They say that the humans that have repented shouldn’t have made the mistake in the first place. Haroot and Maroot asked Allah why humans would ever disobey Allah.

  1. Allah wanted to show them the truth about the people they looked down on.
  2. Allah decided to make them humans and send them to earth as a test.
  3. They were tempted just as humans are
  4. They became worse than humans.

Homework:

Today we took notes on Al-Walid ibn al-Mujeera, father of the one and only Khalid ibn Al-Walid:

1.       Blessed with money and ten strong sons

  1. So rich that he used to donate a cover for the Kabah one year and all of Arabia would put their money together and to buy the cover the next year
  2. He was a judge for Arabic poetry
  3. Kufar tried spreading rumors about the Prophet, didn’t work. Then they became scared that the Prophet was gaining followers
  4. The Kufar sent Walid to the Prophet to offer the Prophet money and power to stop the growing of Islam
  5. The Prophet replied by saying Surat Al-Sajda
  6. Walid explicitly saw the truth that Islam was the true religion and still denied Islam
  7. He will have the punishment of the climbing in Hell. Allah will make him think that if he climbs a mountain, he can get out of Hell, and then every time he

Reaches the top, the mountain falls back down again. This is because he saw the truth, he had an opportunity to prevent himself from getting out of Hell, and then he denied Islam

We continued covering the story of the beginning of the creation

---

Class Date: October 24, 2010

HW is page A-25

We learned about the Story of the Beginning of Creation and how the Satan ticked Adam and Eve into eating from the forbidden tree. We ended on the fight between Qabeel and Habeel (Cain, Able). We learned lots of lessons from the story

1.       Satans are worst enemies.

  1. They try to use our temptations to get us to do bad things.
  2. Adam was tricked by the Satan using the temptations of curiosity and the temptation of not being satisfied with what Allah gave him.
  3. The Satan swore by Allah that he is saying the truth. Adam later said that I have never imagined any one swearing by Allah and is lying.
  4. The Satan swore by Allah that if Adam and Eve ate from the tree, they will turn into angels and will have ever lasting life.
  5. There are two ways to learn, either by listening or by getting hurt. Learning by listening is the smart way because it has no damages but learning by getting heart is very painful and may leave Permanente damages such as Adam and Eve losing Jannah for the rest of their lives.
